Hello, I am Kashyap Merai ( @kamerk22 ), A System Engineer based in Tokyo, Japan – passionate about Space 🚀, Science 🔠and Computers 💻
I started my career as a Software Developer in 2016, just after my third year in IT Engineering.
Not having much about Software Development, but I wanted to learn and I was so curious and passionate.
I build a couple of projects in MEAN Stack and Laravel, that help me kickstart my career as a developer. From not knowing anything about software building, to quickly working for the IT company, it was a dream come true.
Learning and navigating all the challenges, make me hungry for more. I was fortunate enough, to get a good team and a CEO who trusted my abilities. I gave my best for the company and the work, I got promoted as Team Lead.
It was a most memorable 5 years, of learning, debating, consulting, and importantly delivering the best solution we offer to our customers.
Change in Career
I decide to change my job and role. Journey from Developer to DevOps. No idea about Cloud ( except AWS ) and Core Infra parts at all.
Decided to give myself another challenge and prepare for the AWS Certified Solution Architect Certification. I passed with 900+ points.
Interviewed for the new role in DevOps, for the Japanese company and got the job.
Took the flight, and came to Tokyo, Japan. I am so surprised by the culture and the people of this country. Respect and Politeness, Collectivism, and Work Ethics.
I was very anxious about the new role and self-doubting, Am I going to do my best? Is it really what I wanted?
But surprisingly, I performed very well. Got more new challenges and responsibilities.
Working for the biggest MNC company with a never-seen user base, made my view broad. I made many mistakes and learned from them.
Most important I learned how small change can have such a big impact.

Now writing this content and questioning myself,
Do I regret changing the job? Do I regret changing the country?
It can’t be a straight answer yes or no. But one thing I can say for sure. It just makes me more resilient and more courageous to take risks.
No Risk No Reward.
The biggest risk is not taking any risk…
